New York based studio Porto Rocha has redefined the visual identity of Kunsthalle Basel, Switzerland’s oldest contemporary art institution. Under director Mohamed Almusibli, the rebrand reflects a bold, inclusive vision transforming the museum into a welcoming, globally engaged cultural space.

The new identity balances institutional structure with anti-institutional spirit, featuring a dynamic KB monogram that stretches, compresses, and adapts across mediums. A custom typeface by Maxitype, flexible motion system, and a redesigned website create a cohesive yet expressive visual language. Colour and typography introduce warmth and accessibility without losing sophistication. Porto Rocha’s work positions Kunsthalle Basel as a confident, forward-thinking art venue — one that celebrates experimentation, community, and the evolving landscape of contemporary culture.
