Identity and site design for Made Index, a growing digital directory for makers and brands creating goods in the US. Users can search and sort, shop and support, or even submit their favorite brands to be added to the index.
The identity system is anchored by Franklin Gothic, the quintessential American sans, along with the classic red, white, and blue palette, and a light-hearted mark inspired by early US manufacturing mascots.
Brand components like the name and logo are intentionally nation-agnostic. Made Index is less about flag-waving and more about supporting local business and manufacturing, craftspeople, or companies who make the effort to invest in workers and their communities. With enough demand, the brand should be able to spin off into new regions and adopt new nation-specific colors or typefaces in the future.
