North have developed a visual identity for Norwich University of the Arts, one of the highest-ranked specialist creative universities in the UK and voted ‘Arts University of the Year’ for 2025.
The identity is centred around a unique custom typeface family developed by North, named ‘Exchange’ to represent the overlap between the University’s creative disciplines. The new font draws inspiration from Norwich’s renowned 16th and 17th century legacy in the weaving industry, while also referencing digital art forms. Multiple variations within the letterforms create a malleable and fluid aesthetic that reflects a spirit of experimentation and the computational arts.
Formally launched across the entire University estate at the start of the 2024 academic term, the brand was successfully applied across all physical and digital spaces in time for the University being named ‘Arts University of the Year’.
