Opal is a newly started American company founded in the aftermath of the pandemic. In the shift to remote work, a clear gap in the market appeared — the need for a solid professional webcam. The camera contains less than 1% plastic, with most of the device being fully recyclable. Additionally, the packaging is 100% recyclable.

Niklas was approached by Opal to develop a modern, relevant yet timeless visual identity for the brand, to clearly differentiate from their competitors, and to become the leader within the segment.

The brief also entailed a new website, creative direction for product renders and product branding, as well as packaging design by Daniel Åberg and Industrial design by Kenny Sweet
