Svensk Bokkonst Catalogue 2024

Designed by the Swedish studio Lundgren+Lindqvist, the catalogue for the 2024 edition of Svensk Bokkonst — one of the world’s oldest competitions dedicated to book design, rethinks what a catalogue can be. Rather than presenting the selected titles through documentation alone, the designers created a physical archive of the books themselves. Each copy contains a single page from every one of the 25 award-winning publications, making every catalogue unique.
The publication is bound using double archive clips attached to a rigid board spine and back cover, allowing the pages to be handled almost like a working file or research folder. This construction emphasises the tactile qualities of print and the idea of the book as a living object rather than a fixed document.
The project also extends beyond the catalogue. Lundgren+Lindqvist designed the competition diplomas using repurposed book covers from the disassembled publications, reinforcing the circular logic of the concept and ensuring that no material goes to waste.
Together, the system turns the catalogue into a fragmentary yet material celebration of contemporary Swedish book design.
