Wayfinding and signage
Cartlidge Levene developed a pictogram-based wayfinding system which celebrates Otl Aicher’s seminal pictograms designed for the 1972 Munich Olympics, blurring the boundaries between visitor information and museum exhibit.
Large-scale pictograms at primary destination doors are visible across the central atrium, significantly reducing the need for directional signage. The fret-cut, lime-washed oak pictograms mounted on the oak atrium walls appear to be pushed out of the wall surfaces.
