Musa Arquitectos, a Panama-based architecture practice, has developed a distinctive visual identity with London and Zürich-based graphic design studio BOB. The identity explores the relationship between inspiration and making, drawing on the meaning of Musa’s founder’s name, which translates as ‘muse’.
At the heart of the branding is a dialogue between signature letterforms and their abstracted counterparts. Sharing the same proportions and footprints, the paired forms can sit closely together or separate into more expansive compositions, creating a flexible graphic language across the identity.
The resulting visual system brings movement and rhythm to applications, allowing the relationship between the letterforms to shift from direct interaction to more open, expressive arrangements. Typography, composition and repetition work together to create a contemporary identity for the Panama architecture studio, extending across printed materials, publications, signage and digital applications.
The project demonstrates how a simple typographic idea can develop into a flexible and recognisable brand identity.
