Gärde Design Studio has developed the visual identity for Plains, a credit company built on a straightforward promise: helping people manage unexpected expenses and return to financial stability as quickly as possible.
In an industry often associated with complex terms and fine print, the identity embraces simplicity and transparency. Built around the idea of getting ‘back to zero’, the central symbol combines the letter P with a zero, distilling the company’s purpose into a clear, recognisable mark. This thinking extends into a considered motion language, with graphic elements moving outwards before returning to their starting point. The circular movement reinforces the idea of restoring balance, creating a visual system that feels fluid, calm and consistent.
Typography is set in GD Gaio, a highly legible sans serif, paired with a monochrome palette and a restrained layout system. Using a single font size and weight, the identity relies on spacing, rhythm and structure rather than unnecessary decoration. Calm still-life photography completes the approach, reflecting a brand that puts honesty and clarity first. The result is a confident, pared-back visual identity that makes financial services feel more straightforward and accessible.
Nothing hidden. Nothing unnecessary. It is what it is. Just Plain.
